The Bamboo Brace
The Bamboo Brace was created by physical therapists after searching for a dynamic elbow brace that encourages extension and promotes rather than interferes with motor skill development. Named for how it resembles the resilient properties of natural bamboo, The Bamboo Brace is a dynamic, adjustable, snug-fitting alternative to bulky rigid elbow braces that are often found in therapeutic settings.

Description
Description
The Bamboo Brace is sold with 5 flexible and interchangeable support stays of varying resistance.
As a rehabilitation tool for physical and occupational therapy, the dynamic re-alignment of the elbow assists children in gaining strength and control of key joints and musculature that are critical to the development of gross and fine motor skills.
The Bamboo Brace in all five sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL) is excellent for both cases of spasticity (i.e hemiplegia cerebral palsy, stroke) and weakness (i.e brachial plexus injury BPI, down syndrome, head injury and trauma). If your child is a participant in Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) and Bimanual Training (BT) The Bamboo Brace is also an outstanding option to both therapeutic approaches.
The Bamboo Brace is BPA-free, lead-free and phthalate-free. The Bamboo Brace is not recommended for people who have Neoprene allergies, silicone allergies or other skin-related issues.
Bamboo Brace Infant/Toddler (XS)
Fits children as young as 2-3 months and as old as about 18-20 months.
Max arm circumference: 19.1 cm
Note: In infants to young toddlers with lower muscle tone/weakness (i.e. Down syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome) the Infant/Toddler (XS) brace can be worn in children as old as 2 years. However, if your child has significant spasticity (i.e. cerebral palsy) and is on the older end of the suggested age range, consider purchasing a Preschool (S) brace.
Bamboo Brace Preschool (S)
Fits children as young as 18-20 months and as old as about 3.0 years.
5.5'' long x 8.0'' in girth (wrap around) x 1.5mm thick.
Note: The Preschool size is very effective on a wide-range of children. It is a sound selection if your child is growing out of toddlerhood and is of average size for their age. We highly recommend you avoid bracing the entire length of the arm if possible (underarm to wrist). Consider purchasing the Early Gradeschool (M) size for children approaching 4 years in cases of spasticity (i.e. cerebral palsy) or in children who have a very strong, determined urge to interact with the head, neck and face in unwanted fashion.
Bamboo Brace Early Gradeschool brace (M)
Fits children as young as 3.0 years and as old as about 8-9 years.
7.25'' long x 10.25'' in girth (wrap around) x 3.0mm thick.
Note: The Early Gradeschool brace is a good option for many 3-4 year-olds through 9 year olds. There are some larger 3-year-olds especially those with a significant amount of spasticity at the elbow, (such as spastic quadriplegia/spastic diplegia cerebral palsy) who will also do well with this size as long as they have at least 4” of space above and below the elbow. The Early Gradeschool (M) size is also a favorite for younger girls with Rett syndrome, as well as children with autism and other genetic diagnoses where it helps deter mouthing, hand wringing and facial interaction.
Bamboo Brace Adolescent/Young Adult (L)
Fits children as young as 9-10 up to about 15-18 years.
9.0” long x 12.0” in girth (wrap-around) x 3.0mm thick.
Note: The Adolescent size is designed for children in the later stages of gradeschool to those middle teen years. A full 5” above and below the elbow is recommended for this size and nearly full passive range of motion is helpful in determining its effectiveness in rehab situations as opposed to a contracture management tool.
Bamboo Brace Teen/Adult (XL)
Fits larger teens as young as 13-15 years through adulthood.
Note: The Teen/Adult is designed for children in the middle to later teenage years to through adulthood. A full 6-7” above and below the elbow is recommended for this size and nearly full passive range of motion is helpful in determining its effectiveness in rehab situations as opposed to a contracture management tool.
Material: Neoprene, silicone and plastic.
