Sustainability Policy

Allied Medical believes that businesses are responsible for achieving good environmental practices and operating in a sustainable manner, through all their business practises.

As a team, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and continually improving our environmental performance in our long term strategies as well as through our day to day business practices. It is our priority to encourage our customers, suppliers and everyone we come in contact to do the same. Not only is this sound commercial sense for all; it is also a matter of delivering on our duty of care towards future generations.

Our core focus areas are:

Reduce our waste, recycle and repurpose

We use eco-friendly packaging materials and all packaging materials that can be reused is. Recycling stations are set up throughout our offices and warehouses and we recycle everything that we can. We also work with our key customers to help ensure that our products can be recycled, revitalised, and reissued and not added to landfill. As part of our strategic process, we assess the environmental impact of any new processes or products we intend to introduce in advance.

Work to save energy and conserve natural resources

We will strive to minimise energy and water usage in our buildings, vehicles, and processes in order to conserve supplies and minimise our consumption of natural resources, especially where they are non-renewable. We apply the principles of continuous improvement in respect of air, water, noise, and light pollution from our premises and reduce any impacts from our operations on the environment and local community. New and replacement company vehicles will have improved fuel efficiency and electric vehicles will be considered where viable. We will also encourage the use of alternative means of transport and car sharing as appropriate.

Ensure our supply chain has responsible social and environmental practices

We work to ensure that our suppliers are also engaged in sustainability practices and who we know have a healthy, fair, and diverse workforce. Partnering with like-minded organisations striving to care for the environment and support their communities is critical. We will prioritise the use of sea freight over air freight where possible to minimise overall carbon emissions as well as consolidate shipments.

Be socially responsible

We strive to understand how our business impacts stakeholders, our community, and the environment, to develop and manage our business processes. We are also committed to supporting our wider community, especially the disability sector in both New Zealand and the Pacific, and work to ensure as much inclusion as possible, no matter what people’s abilities are. Allied Medical sponsors and supports a wide range of organisations which currently includes: Powerchair Football New Zealand, Muscular Dystrophy New Zealand, MS Auckland, Wilson Trust, Altus Trust, and the Pacific Rehab Trust.

Live and breathe wellbeing in our workplace

From health and safety to work-life balance to professional development, we strive to ensure that our team are well supported and have the ability to grow personally while they are part of our team. We have a continued focus to ensure our actions foster a healthy organisational culture that promotes diversity and inclusivity - with a good sprinkling of fun too.
